How to Permit an Unpermitted ADU

Writer's picture: Meredith MungerMeredith Munger

If you're like most homeowners, the ADU on your property may be considered "unpermitted." An estimated 50% of all ADUs are unpermitted, so you're in good company!

Fortunately, CA has a general amnesty to encourage homeowners to bring ADUs up to code, especially for safety purposes - and there's good reason to do so. While there may me some costs, they're surprisingly minor - especially compared to the cost of your liability if an accident happens. Also, your renter can sure you for back rent AND stay in the ADU until it gets permitted.

Remember: every $10,000 in expenses can be financed as low as $50, so here's how to get your ADU permitted. #adu #permits #construction #Unpermitted
